Pflip Is Out

I sold Pflip and it makes me sad. I sent him to his new owner this morning. There will never be another monster like Pflip. (sniff). But I know his new owner very well and I know he'll be happy there, once he warms up to her. (sniff).

I'll miss you Pflip.

Dee & Dee

Dee and DeeDee & Dee share the same name as a store where I like to buy my socks. What a coincidence. They are loving couple and they were also the caretakers of our school for monsters. That was in the past. Their hard work has earned them their freedom and now they wish to live with a loving family where they can sit and relax. Yes. They've retired.

New Monsters

I've been busy. I just posted six new monsters at my Etsy site and there off to a slow start. We'll see how they do.

I'm tired of working at the computer for today so I'll wait until tomorrow before posting the new listings here.

Everything Old is New Again

I renewed two listings for monsters I first put on Etsy three months ago. I renamed them and revealed their back stories.

Gmulpia was formerly known as Pink Striped Monster. And until now, no one knew her back story. Before becoming the gym teacher at our school for monsters, Gmulpia was a stunt woman for a famous film studio in Monsteropia - in Virginia. Don't feel bad if you haven't heard of it. It's not on most maps.

Meanwhile, Spinner's name remains the same. Jon interviewed Spinner but didn't really learn anything new about him. What we can tell you, is that he likes to fly around this apartment like some kind of whirlygig. Max has had to fly to the rescue several times to help Spinner out of some tricky situations.

Remembering Chester

Chester was named such because his name rhymes with Jester which is what he looks like. I sent Chester to live with a family in Michigan.

I hope he'll be happy there.

Unisphere and the Bean

Did you ever meet Bean? He's one of those dolls that I like so I much, I decided to keep him instead of sell him. Bean came with us on one of our bike rides down to Flushing Meadow Park. He had a great time. He got to see the Unisphere and those weird towers.

Pflip

I made a new monster that I like so much I'm not going to to sell him. His personality formed right away and it's pretty cute. He likes to hide. When you're not looking, he likes to do flips. That's why I named him Pflip.

He's slowly starting to come out of his shell. We introduced him to Pflur who, as well as loving potatoes, is very kind and nurturing. You can often find him hiding behind her. He's also started hanging out with Haymaker Jr. Normally, we wouldn't encourage any of our monsters to hang out with Haymaker Jr., because he is a fighter. He and his dad are always getting into brawls.

Pflip HidingBut we figured that Pflip would benefit from their outgoing nature and might learn to be less shy. Hopefully that won't back fire on us.

You can see him here, hiding behind Haymaker. Pflip is the one with the striped head.

Schmooey

Schmooey, my beloved littlest monster, is joining a family in Michigan. Tomorrow, I'll wrap him in pink tissue paper, shove him in a jiffy envelope with care instructions, and send him in style from my local post office.

Don't worry. I'll make holes in the envelope so he can breathe.

Max The Masked Wonder

Inspired by recent superhero movies, I created Max, the Masked Wonder. And since I finished sewing him up last night, he has been very heroic. He rescued one of our sweet girl monsters from a couple of the more lecherous ones. This morning he helped me make the bed by flying with the other of end of our comforter in his hands, to help me lay it out straight. My girl monsters are just swooning for him.

Wizang

Wizang is a little bit of a ladies' man so you have to pay close attention to him. Make sure he's not bothering any girl monsters you happen to have laying around.

He's suave and debonaire. His favorite movie is The Princess Bride because he knows that's what the girls like. He also likes Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. And he loves to wrap himself in purple velvet.

He's 11" tall and baby safe.

Harold

Harold is the second in my series of slumber party monsters.

He's wearing peach and white striped pajamas and he's completely huggable. The slumber party series is designed to help children have sleepovers basically. Sometimes it can be scary to stay at someone else's house for the first time and a little friend that you can cling to when you're falling sleep can be very comforting.

Harold is 9" tall and I wouldn't recommend him for children younger than 3 or 4 because of his button eyes.

Gus is also a part of that series.

Fljat

Fljat's name comes from the previously mentioned Scrabulous game.

FljatFljat is another in my series of small monsters, measuring only 7" tall. His small size is no indication of his smarts. He's got the biggest brains of any monster I've made. His favorite book from our monster book shelf is the "Natural History of Monsters" by Gossamer (the big red monster from the Bugs Bunny cartoons). But we're running out of books for him to read. Pretty soon, he'll have nothing left to learn from us and he'll become bored. Bored monsters are dangerous monsters.

Wizang is Finished

My girlfriend and I are playing a Scrabulous game with the goal of creating monster names. So, I used that pool of creativity to find a name for the monster I was working on yesterday. I'm excited about Wizang because I used a new type of stuffing for him called Soft Touch Polyfil Supreme by Fairfield. It's sooooo soft.

Anyway, here is Wizang.

Once I've posted him on Etsy I'll provide a link.

Poor Pflur

Last night, Jon picked up a couple of gyros for us from Pinnochios, with a side order of roasted potatoes.

Pflur and the potatoes

Pflur was so excited, but sadly all she could do was stare at them. Her mouth is sewn shut.

Sketchy Monster

Here is a sketch of the new monster I'm working on - slowly.
